Beach Vacation

I just returned from a week at a nice beach property in Rehoboth Beach, DE. I can provide you with the rental address and such if you are interested. Here’s my commentary for anyone interested:

We had a great time at this property. I give it a 4.5 out of a possible five. The following comments are to help you decide if this is the place for you. It’s all from my tainted opinion so take it all with a grain of salt.

I think this place is suited best for families of small children or teens. Couples in need of privacy will only find three bedrooms for that. The house can sleep eighteen since there are twin beds all over tastefully disguised as sofas and a kid’s room with a bunk bed.

The appliances like the stove and drier are in need of replacing but if you are not cooking nonstop as my aunts did while we were together you won’t mind. There is plenty of hot water for all those guest you may be bringing because the owner has gas water heaters I think throughout. The Cable TV and Wi-Fi works well. If you don’t have Verizon as your cell provider, your cell service will be substandard.

The backyard is a mini oasis with a small pool and outside shower that is great for little kids. Our teens liked it. I think it was 3 foot at the deepest point. The landscaping makes it a nice place to spend your mornings and evenings with high fences.

You can hear the ocean in quiet moments and see the horizon from the front door if you look between the buildings. The house is located a few homes down from the end of the street on a public access road to the beach.

The Rehoboth and Dewey Beach parking Nazis will spoil your plans if you fail to park correctly even in front of the house. The drive way and front yard will hold at least five big vehicles if parked correctly. My mother (a Senior Citizen) got two parking tickets within a couple of hours because of her failure to think anyone was that strict. It broke her heart. Parking is aggressively controlled throughout the area.

Overall, Rehoboth is a very friendly place and the people are nice all over. This is a dog friendly town and the beach looks like a SPCA meet after 6 PM when dogs are allowed but that was a good thing as we took our Doberman.

The streets have been modified from the directions on Yahoo and Map Quest so use a GPS if unfamiliar with the area. It is easier to get there and leave than the maps tell you.

The owner is a nice guy and accessible to answer your questions. He has hired a host of people to help you with your stay. The house has its own trash pickup, pool man and maintenance person as well as contact.
