A funny thing happened on the way to the gun store

I lost respect for every politician I saw in front of RealCo Gun shop standing with the Rainbow / PUSH organization and the Brady Campaign. Celebrating the anniversary of the historic March on Washington, the Rainbow/ PUSH organization teamed up with the Brady Campaign to protest law-abiding gun owners of Prince Georges County, Maryland. The symbolic act of marching a few steps in front of the retail establishment and chanting to stop the violence demonstrated the artificial nature, the insincerity and the buffoonery that has become the political norm.

How can I say that when violence is at an all time high not only in my community but probably every urban area in this country? I say this because we don’t need grandstanding, pontification or symbolism. The definition of insanity is to repeat the same actions and wait for a different outcome. Our legislators, politicians and city leaders are some of the most educated people in our community. Common sense tells us that criminals do not buy guns at gun stores, gun shows or any federally regulated and taxed business. Common sense tells us that by definition, the law abiding people are the only ones that suffer the indignation of all the extra restrictions dreamed up to appease the populace that doesn’t know that there are over 40,000 gun laws already on the books across the country.

Do you know how hard it is for a person of color to operate a gun store? Well, for thirty-five years, two American brothers of Cuban origin, Greg and Carlos del Real, have been providing the law-abiding residents of Prince George’s county with equipment and supplies to support the American traditions of the shooting sports, personal defense and law enforcement. As a business, they have persevered in a hostile environment, thwarted illegal activity, and maintained solvency even through the additional “hoops” the State of Maryland imposes on a firearm business. They have assisted law enforcement in combating illegal gun trafficking, and diligently apply the laws governing the sale of firearms. I speak so highly of them because I have been a stalwart customer for over twenty years.

Guns are not the problem with the increase of violence in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Detroit and New York. The problem is the community is waiting for someone else to fix the broken home, the un-parented child, the illiterate graduate, and the spiritually bankrupt. We collectively spend more attention and give more love to animals than we do our children. And then when they grow up into prostitots, thugs and mirror the images from People magazine we want to blame something. I have seen the enemy and it is us. A funny thing happened to me on the way to the gun store. When I saw the protest, heard former DC mayor, Marion Barry speaking in the District Heights, Maryland parking lot, I realized that the Maryland’s politicians there were a joke. I saw a RAINBOW of speakers PUSH to get microphone time. I realized that no of them can help our communities, freedom isn’t free and we are in worse trouble than we know.

Mr. Blanchard,

To emphasize how much anti-gun groups really care about working w/ us to stop crime, a few months ago, when the Brady Campaign Blogs were still open to comments, a challenge was made to anti-gun poster "macca" to contact you and discuss firearms. In return, numerous of pro-gun individuals were to contact the police organizations that allegedly opposed the Tiahrt Amendment. Between us, nearly a dozen groups were contacted. None responded. I have a feeling "macca" never contacted you at all.

The point of this post is that "macca" was recently discovered to be Brady Campaign Board member Marsha Macartney.

The politicians don't listen and the groups don't really care.

Jesse and his minions were here in Illinois protesting DSA arms .Dsa is a large supplier of so called "assault weapons" to military and police. Most people in the shooting sports as well as the police and politicians know that these weapons are hardly ever used by gang bangers in crimes.Rev Jackson will twist the facts just to stir up emotions.People these days refuse to go out and find out the facts for themselves ,and rely on the garbage and misinformation spewed out to them by todays liberal media. I believe people are starting to wake up and realize that no one cares about there safety.Gun laws don't work !40,000 laws are already on the books ! We must demand that are media sources start listening to our side of the story, we have put up with the restrictive government laws long enough, it is time for CONCEALED CARRY for all law abiding citizens.Class 3 weapons should be available to all that are able to handle the responsibility. This was guaranteed in the constitution. Contrary to what these jack leg politicians tell us , the 2nd amendment is not about hunting;it is about self preservation of self and country.

The RealCo protest was an eye-opener. No wonder those people in DC can't get home rule! They haven't read the U.S. constitution, for starters, and they are letting Jesse Jackson, Sarah Brady, and their minions PUSH all of us back into slavery.

This was nothing but an intimidation and propaganda campaign. I was intrigued to learn that RealCo had been annexed by District Heights (it used to be in Forestville). Was this done legally, I wonder? Sounds like District Heights Mayor James Walls is just looking for an excuse to grab the del Reals' property so he can get more tax income from it. It was laughable that he and Barry blamed RealCo for the foot traffic along Marlboro Pike--a town with many popular stores, lots of apartments, and an extensive network of faith-based social services that attract the homeless and hungry.

Very handy that an unscheduled state police audit of RealCo's books happened just as the rally was starting. I guess MOM wanted to get in on the act.

I've seen the face of fascism, and it involves most of my elected and appointed local--and national--leaders. Jesse Jackson and his cronies use intimidation and incite mass hysteria to grandstand. Shame on you P.G. Co. Exec. Jack Johnson and P.G. Co. State's Atty. Glen Ivey, for joining this unholy, racist, anti-American alliance.

The topping on the cake is that my own national representative to the House of Representatives, Al Wynn, also joined the anti-Second Amendment side. No one wants innocent people to be harmed, but when our government officials turn on the U.S. Constitution, and the rights it guarantees law-abiding citizens, it's time to send them a wake up call.

Please write and call your politicians and let them know that stacking on more unfair laws for criminals to ignore and put an undue burden on virtuous citizens is insanity!

Wynn, Johnson, Ivey, MOM: You've crossed over to the dark side, guys. We're supposed to be on the same side, and you don't seem to realize it.

Remember--I'd forfeit my life so you could retain your right to protest against me. It's my duty as an American citizen.
